Thinking of the Soft Skill
1. What
do you feel are some of the qualities of good leaders?
Good leaders have qualities like honesty, confidence, and
strong communication skills. They are also good listeners, which helps them
understand the needs and concerns of others. A leader should be able to make
decisions, solve problems, and stay calm under pressure. They inspire and guide
others, creating a sense of trust and respect within their team. Empathy and
fairness are also key qualities that help leaders connect with people.
2. Is initiative an essential quality in leaders? Why do you
think so?
Initiative is an essential quality in leaders because it
shows they are proactive. Leaders with initiative don’t wait for instructions;
they take action when they see opportunities or problems. This helps them stay
ahead and make important decisions quickly. It also shows they are responsible,
capable, and willing to take risks for the betterment of their team or
organization. Initiative drives progress and helps leaders lead with
confidence.
3. Do good leaders keep motivated throughout their lives? How
do you think they do so?
Good leaders stay motivated throughout their lives by constantly setting new goals and challenges for themselves. They keep learning and growing by seeking new experiences and knowledge. Leaders often reflect on their successes and failures, using them as lessons for the future. Staying connected with their purpose or passion helps them remain focused and driven. Surrounding themselves with positive, supportive people also keeps them motivated, as does celebrating the small successes along the way.
# Proverbs # Expand the ideas
1.
"If you can't serve, you can't rule." (African)
A good leader must first know how to
help others. Leadership is not about giving orders but about supporting and
serving the people they lead. If a leader can’t care for their team, they won’t
earn respect or trust. To rule well, a leader needs to put others' needs before
their own.
2.
"A ruler must sometimes humour as well as command."
A good leader knows that being strict
all the time isn't the best way. Sometimes, using humor or being friendly helps
build stronger relationships. When leaders balance giving commands with
understanding and kindness, their team feels more comfortable and motivated.
3.
"Even the largest army is nothing without a good general."
(Afghan)
No matter how strong a group is,
without a skilled leader, they cannot succeed. A good leader provides
direction, strategy, and motivation. The leader's role is to guide the group
and make smart decisions that help everyone achieve their goals.
4.
"Great chiefs prove their worthiness." (Senecan)
Leaders should show their abilities
through their actions. Being a great leader means earning trust and respect by
leading well. When a leader consistently does what is right and effective, they
prove their worth to the people.
5.
"A leader who understands proverbs reconciles conflicts."
(Somali)
A wise leader who understands deep
lessons from proverbs can help solve problems between people. Proverbs carry
wisdom and advice, and a leader who uses them knows how to bring peace and
understanding among others.
6.
"One can make a difference."
Even one person can bring about change
if they have the courage and determination to act. A leader doesn’t have to be
in charge of many people to make an impact. One person’s actions can inspire
others and lead to great results.
7.
"The master of their people is their servant." (Yemeni)
A true leader serves their people,
putting their needs and well-being first. Leadership is about helping others,
not just having power. A good leader makes decisions that benefit the people,
showing care and responsibility.
8.
"If the townspeople are happy, look to the chief." (Bulgarian)
When people are happy and things are
going well, it shows that the leader is doing a good job. A successful leader
ensures the well-being of their people, creating an environment where they can
thrive and be content.
9.
"He who dictates separates himself from others." (African)
A leader who only gives orders
without listening creates distance between themselves and their people. To lead
well, one must communicate, understand, and connect with others. Dictating only
pushes people away.
10."A great one must have a long
heart." (Ethiopian)
A great leader needs to have
patience, kindness, and understanding. Being a leader means facing challenges,
and those with a "long heart" can handle difficult situations calmly
and fairly, always thinking about the well-being of others.
# Real life experience:
Gender Discrimination continues to
this day in most of the world. In a paragraph of 150 words write about what
gender discrimination means to you and how you would combat it from a
leadership position.
Gender discrimination means treating
someone unfairly because of their gender. This can happen in schools,
workplaces, and even at home, where people might think men are more capable or
deserving than women. It can stop women from getting good jobs, equal pay, or
the same opportunities as men. As a leader, I would combat gender
discrimination by creating an environment where everyone is treated equally,
regardless of their gender. I would ensure that both men and women have equal
opportunities for promotions, training, and leadership roles. I would listen to
and support those who face unfair treatment, making sure that complaints are
taken seriously. Education is also important, so I would encourage discussions
about gender equality to change outdated ideas and promote respect. By setting
clear rules and leading by example, I would create a fairer workplace where
everyone can succeed.
# Workplace experience:
1.
How do you deal with a colleague from the opposite sex?
I treat colleagues from the opposite
sex with respect and professionalism, just like I would with anyone else. I
focus on work tasks and avoid making assumptions based on gender. Clear
communication, kindness, and teamwork help build a positive working relationship.
2.
How would you handle a difficult financial situation?
In a difficult financial situation, I
would first stay calm and assess the problem carefully. I would create a plan
to cut unnecessary expenses and look for ways to save money. If needed, I would
talk to my manager for advice or explore any available support from the
company.
3.
Do your family members enable you to perform your work well? How do they
do so? How do you balance your personal relationships with your duties?
Yes, my family supports me by
understanding my work schedule and responsibilities. They help me manage stress
and offer encouragement. I balance personal relationships and work by setting
aside time for my family after work hours and staying organized with my tasks.
4.
Have you ever been in a critical situation? How did you manage your
interpersonal relations in the workplace during this time?
Yes, I’ve faced a critical situation
at work. During that time, I stayed calm and communicated openly with my
colleagues. I made sure to listen to their ideas and concerns and worked
together to solve the problem. This helped maintain good relationships while we
focused on finding a solution.
